You’ll want to check and see how hot the water is.

Fill a cup with water and get a cooking thermometer and see what the temperature is. If it is reading higher than 120 degrees, then it’s too high. Having it higher than that is not only bad for your water heater, but is too hot and can cause scalding, and can also cause you to have higher utility bills too.
