There are so many items in our homes to think about and maintain. Regular sink maintenance might not be one of them, or near the top of our list. But it is important to perform regular sink maintenance. Keep reading to see what makes it so important.
We use our sinks on a daily basis, whether it’s the kitchen sink for doing dishes, or the bathroom sinks for washing hands, brushing teeth, and cleaning our faces. It only makes sense that there is a lot of debris from the soap, which then catches hair, food and other items in it, and can then end up with narrow pipes. If they’re not maintained on a regular basis, this will eventually lead to a clog.
Regular sink maintenance can help to avoid costly repairs in the future. Ending up with a serious clog, or even worse, a leak can be an expensive repair that could have potentially been prevented with a little maintenance. It can be as simple as taking the plug out and removing the hair once a month, or running some vinegar and baking soda down the drain on a monthly basis to try to keep the drains clear. It helps to prevent problems with the plumbing system in your home.
By keeping up with this, not only are you helping to prevent future clogs, but you are also preserving the life of your pipes and entire plumbing system. Clogs, build ups of grease, and debris put an unnecessary strain on your plumbing system, over time this weakens the pipes. Weakened pipes can burst, then you’re left with a leak you might not know about until you see water coming from a wall.
